Ami is a self-led project designed to address the challenges of work-life balance and mental health, particularly for Gen Z remote workers and students. As someone who personally struggles with a panic disorder, I wanted to create a productivity tool that reduces anxiety rather than exacerbates it. Ami transforms task management into a game-like experience that is friendly, engaging, and stress-reducing, helping users stay organized while prioritizing mental well-being.

The app includes features like a to-do list presented as “quests,” Pomodoro timers to encourage focus and breaks, mood tracking, journaling prompts, and nature-inspired relaxation exercises. Additionally, a “panic button” offers calming activities such as breathwork exercises or a fishing mini-game to help users manage stress in the moment.

Ami’s retro pixelated visual style is specifically designed to appeal to gamers and Gen Z’s nostalgic love for early digital aesthetics. The aesthetic emulates a friendly game environment, blending soothing colors and simple animations to create a comforting experience. Inspired by titles like Animal Crossing and Undertale, Ami fosters a sense of calm and familiarity that helps users feel supported rather than pressured.

The prototype was created in Figma and demonstrates how Ami combines productivity tools with mental health support in a seamless and approachable way.
