Audrey Regular - Typeface Design

Audrey Hepburn has always been a fascinating figure to me—her elegance, grace, and timeless style continue to inspire so many. When I set out to design a typeface inspired by her, I wanted to capture more than just her image; I wanted to reflect the unique duality of her persona.

I find that Audrey’s sharp cheekbones and jawline contrasted with her soft, rounded eyes and how her ballerina-like figure stood out in an era known for curves. She was both delicate and striking—a quality I aimed to recreate in my typeface design.

To achieve this, I started with rounded modular shapes, inspired by the softer side of her beauty, and contrasted them with sharp, thin lines to reflect her refined, structured elegance. I kept the strokes thin because I found that elegance often lies in subtlety and intricacy—much like the haute couture designs of the 1950s.

This typeface is a display typeface, designed to make a statement and capture attention while embodying Audrey’s timeless sophistication. In the posters below, I explored how it could be used in various contexts, playing with its versatility and impact.
